10. Georgia Aquarium

The Georgia Aquarium, located right in downtown Atlanta, is home to more than a hundred thousand animals representing over a thousand different species. It is the largest Aquarium in the United States and second largest Aquarium in the world. From colorful exhibits, to pools where you can interact with stingrays, there is something there for everyone

9. World of Coca-Cola

Atlanta is the home of  Coca-Cola’s Headquarters. Located across from the Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola takes you through the history of the Coca-Cola company. The tour ends in a room filled with hundreds of samples of sodas from all over the world that you can try, I recommend staying away from the Beverly, though.

8. Six Flags over Georgia

With dozens of rides, there are plenty of options here for everyone, even those who don’t like big roller coasters. If you visit during the summer, you visit the water park! If you visit during the fall, make sure to check out the Six Flags Fright Fest, and check out my favorite roller coaster, Goliath.

7. High Museum of Art

Located in Midtown, the High Museum is one of the world’s leading art museums. It is home to pieces of art from all over the world, including pieces from local high schoolers in metro Atlanta. Every year, The High does an art showcase featuring Atlanta High School artist, so if you are ever in town during that time, be sure to check it out!

6. The Varsity

The Varsity is a classic Atlanta eatery. Founded in 1928, the Varsity has basically grown with the city of Atlanta. It is the perfect place to go to grab a nice chilli dog, or hamburger, or my personal favorite, the frosted orange. Make sure you pick up a classic red varsity paper hat as a souvenir.

5. Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park is the perfect place to just take a nice walk, sit down and relax, or have a nice picnic. With beautiful views of the city, and events happening regularly, there is always something cool or relaxing that you can find there.

4. Centennial Olympic Park

Located near the World of Coca Cola and Aquarium, the Centennial Olympic park is a unique part of Atlanta history. Left to us after the 1996 Olympic games, the park features Pona fountain of rings (which are super fun and refreshing to run around in when it is hot outside), a water pool, and beautiful views of the city. Additionally, the Skyview Atlanta is located right by it, which gives you phenomenal views of the city.

3. Little 5 Points

East of downtown Atlanta, is the trendy neighborhood known as Little 5 Points. This area is filled with tons of cool and unique thrift shops, record shops, restaurants, and more. It is also a fun place to take photos.

2. Ponce City Market

Ponce City Market, located on Ponce de Leon Avenue in downtown Atlanta, is a reconverted Sears, Roebuck & Co. building. The Market features restaurants of different cuisines, unique to Atlanta, as well as unique stores and artwork. There is always something to find there. Additionally, if you go up to the Ponce City Market Skyline, located on the top of the roof, you can enjoy fun games and activities while also seeing beautiful views of the city.

1. The Beltline

After you go to Ponce City Market, you can walk right up to the Beltline. This several mile long stretch is filled with various art exhibits, stores, skate parks, and more. If you are looking for a trendy place to take photos, this is definitely your go to.

Honorable Mention

if you are visiting during soccer season go see an Atlanta United game. Not only do you get to see the brand new Mercedes Benz Stadium, but you also get to witness a one-of-a-kind sports experience watching the reigning MLS Cup champions play.
